Weather gone Wild

John Lyng Group has been appointed by the NSW Government to lead the state’s recovery from the floods, taking on the role of managing contractor to roll out the state’s Property Assessment and Demolition Program.

The $142 million program provides free structural assessments of eligible flood impacted properties in 58 local government areas affected by the February/March floods. It is open to owners of properties used for residential, small business or primary production purposes.

If you or your business wasn’t insured for the damage caused during the floods you may be eligible for the program. Read More

Having the right insurance for your business can protect you against unexpected interruptions to trade.  It is important that you have a plan for when the weather is not on your side:

  1. Keep an eye on weather patterns, if storms are coming make sure your vehicles are undercover to prevent damage, any objects such as signage are secured to prevent damage to property or people.
  2. It is essential to have an evacuation plan that is communicated to your staff, processes to follow in the event of danger,
  3. Make sure you have your first aid kit accessible and stocked.
  4. Back up all the business’s data, if possible remove any stock, IT or electronic equipment, valuables, records or files off site or to a safe area. Read More
  5. Always remember not to cross floodwater either on foot or in your car.
